Jesus said, "Peoples' hearts have become calloused;they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them."
Mt13:15
Accept Jesus:

‘Accept Jesus Christ as your personal 'saviour’, ‘be born again’, ‘surrender to Christ’, all of these are terms used to describe the process of restoring your relationship with God.  God created you so He may know you personally, to have a living relationship with you.  That feeling of emptiness inside, the loneliness that people try to fill with casual sex, drugs or alcohol is the longing to know and fellowship with God.

Most people live their entire lives without ever knowing ‘WHY?’  They exist year after year with no idea of why they live or God’s purpose for their lives.  The most basic question a person can ask is, “ What is the meaning of my life?”  Everyone wants to be happy.  People try many ways:
…some look for happiness by acquiring possessions
…some look for happiness by experiencing pleasure.
…some look for happiness by gaining prestige or power.
But real contentment comes from understanding the purpose for our lives.

God loves us because He created us.  He created us to enjoy a personal relationship with Him, and to manage the rest of His creation.  The problem is that we have a natural desire to be the boss of our lives and to ignore God’s principles for living.  This thwarts God’s purpose for our lives, negates the benefits of relationship with Him and causes us to fill our lives with counterfeits.  This natural tendency to ignore God and rule our own lives, the Bible calls sin.  God says, ‘the wages (or end results) of sin is death,’ eternal separation from Him in hell.

When our relationship with God is broken because of sin, it causes problems in every area of our lives – marriage, career, relationships, finances etc.  Even when we know that our deepest need is God; we often try wrong ways of getting to know Him.  We try to be good in ourselves or earn our way into God’s good graces by doing good deeds for others or following a prescribed set of rituals (otherwise known as religion).  The problem is that God is perfect and we can never be good enough to be perfect.

What’s the solution?

There is only one way to establish that relationship with God and have our sins forgiven:  Jesus said,  "I am the way, the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me."   God himself came to earth as a human being to bring us back to Himself.  If any other way would have worked, Jesus Christ would not have had to come.  The WAY is a person.  Jesus came and lived a perfect life, then laid down His life to pay the penalty for our sin.  God took the initiative to restore our broken relationship with Him by sending Jesus to come and die for the sins of the world.

What does God want me to do?

  • Admit that God has not been the leader, the master of your life, and ask Him to forgive your sins.
  • Believe that Jesus died to pay for your sins on the cross, that He rose again, and is alive today.
  • Accept God's free gift of salvation.  Don’t try to earn it!
  • Invite Jesus Christ to come into your life and be the ‘boss’ or leader, the Lord of your life.

You can take these steps by praying the following prayer.  It’s a simple prayer; just read it aloud and mean it with your whole heart:

‘Dear Jesus, thank you for making me and loving me – even when I’ve ignored you and gone my own way.  I realize I needyou in my life and I’m sorry for my sins.  I ask you to forgive me.  Thank you for dying on the cross for me.  Please help me to understand it more.  As much as I know how, I want to follow you from now on. Please come into my life and make me a new person inside.  I accept your gift of salvation.  Please help me to grow now as a Christian.'

If you just prayed that prayer. . .

Now that you have prayed that prayer and meant it with all your being, you are a follower of Jesus Christ and God’s Holy Spirit has come to live inside your heart.  You are completely forgiven and have become a new creation in Christ!  Congratulations!

Now that you are a Christian, you need to grow.  Get a Bible and read some of it everyday, asking God to help you understand what you are reading.  Pray every day too – that means – just talk to God.  Tell Him what’s on your heart and mind; build your relationship with Him.  The last thing is really important.  Find a solid, Bible teaching church to attend each week where you can hear the Word of God taught and you can grow in knowledge in your new lifestyle.  We can recommend one for you if you don’t live near Christian Life Assembly; just email or call us!   If you live in the greater Hamilton area, please visit us at CLA  - we’d love to meet you!

May the true and living God bless you all the days of your life.

Do not conform any longer to the ways of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to
test and approve what God's will is.  His good, pleasing and perfect will.
